TESTIMONY FROM LOCAL PARTICIPANTS

After several years during the pandemic of communicating through phones and laptops, it was an incredibly moving experience to be with a group of people, picking up movement cues and tuning into another human being at an embodied level.”
Alison Gilmour, Harrogate Theatre, September 2022

“The experience I had was very important for me.  I felt part of something bigger than myself and it was very good.  The cast were very friendly and very helpful so it was easy to become the character needed.  In a sense you were a community within a community.  Doing the rehearsal was a fantastic experience and then the actual performance was even better. Levantes Dance Theatre are excellent and give the people so much.”
Bess Miles-Duncan, Harrogate Theatre, September 2022

“As a mature woman of 50+ years, it can be harder to find these opportunities due to my not being in the median age for dance theatre. I loved that Levantes included more ‘senior’ members in the cast. It was a big boost to my self-esteem. Additionally, I feel the performance was a boost and boon to the community. From what I’ve seen of the local theatre programs over the years, there’s not been much contemporary dance featured, yet there are many dance schools in the area. I really appreciated being involved in a show that was less mainstream, and my teenage daughter really appreciated watching a show that was less mainstream. She raved about how much she enjoyed the show.”
Rebecca Colby, Harrogate Theatre, September 2022
