Duck Man is a story about George and his Grandfather. A dreamy treat of fanciful imaginings, on the open sea and under water. The cast of final year student dancers from London Contemporary Dance School are an oddball household; a mother in curlers, a doddering uncle, the furry and mischievous family hedgehog.

Levantes Dance Theatre was awarded the Choreography for Children Award 2012. We started the year creatively with shows at The Place and The Lilyan Baylis, Sadler’s Wells. Duck Man was a hit thanks largely to the wonderful team of people supporting us, with special appreciation for the creative team.

Questions & Dancers is a project created for eight to eleven year-old children and theirfamilies. Presented by The Place, Sadler’s Wells and Company of Angels, young audiences contributed to the creation of new dance by professional choreographers and dancers, and asked to share their thoughts on the performances.

Over six weeks we worked with London Contemporary Dance School third-year students to create a new piece for 8- 11 year old audiences.

90 children from three Camden primary schools were involved as co-creators with us, contributing both story and movement ideas, and creating artwork that was used to make an animation in one of the works.

The children had workshops with us at the beginning of the process, and were kept up-to-date with further sessions and video diaries.

Four video diaries were created during the rehearsal process which formed the basis for further creative play among the school children facilitated by their teachers and supported by education staff from The Place and Company of Angels.

After the performances at all venues, question and answer sessions with the choreographers, dancers and audience maintained the interactivity of the experience and contributed to evaluation of the process.
