Since the end of our LANWest/InTransit Tour (www.lanwest.org), performing Gin and Satsumas, we have been busy working on a new piece, Room Temperature Romance.
The piece initially came from a research and development period (April 2008) supported by Rules&Regs (www.rulesandregs.org). The project was hosted by different venues around the U.K. and we took part at the Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster. There were rules set out for us to test and explore our practice, ranging from working in confined spaces to spending 24 hours in Blackpool!
Rules&Regs was thoroughly enjoyable and beneficial to our practice. It was great to spend so much concentrated time together working and learning from other young practitioners, so many thanks to everyone involved.
After Rules&Regs ended we were chosen as outreach artists by Dance4 to participate in Stamping Ground08 (www.dance4.co.uk). Stamping Ground08 took us to outdoor venues and festivals in the Midlands region, with a purpose to take contemporary performance out of the theatre and to a wider audience. The experience was invaluable to us, as the opportunity to work in such venues and with as diverse an audience as attending, really gave the company a fresh experience. We would like to thank all at Dance4 for their support.
Room Temperature Romance now has further support, and an exciting research and development period as part of The Oxford Samuel Beckett shortlist (www.osbttrust.com). It is something we are incredibly excited about and are working hard to test ourselves and produce something special.
Eleni recently received The Marion North Mentoring Scheme (www.laban.org) The scheme gives young practitioners the opportunity to benefit from advice, feedback and discussion, using one to one sessions with an established choreographer or dance artist currently working in the industry.
Eleni and Bethanie can't wait!
